The Almshouses provide more than just housing—they create a safe and supportive environment for residents. With a focus on fostering a sense of community, residents can socialise through coffee mornings, monthly activities like lunches, quizzes, and outings, or by making use of the communal hall, complete with a pool table and darts board.

 

Each self-contained property features one or two bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. Unfurnished, they offer comfortable and independent living with modern amenities.

The estate features 30 properties, single-story cottages and flats laid out around a central lawn and gardens. Each unit includes modern amenities such as living areas, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and an emergency alarm system connected to onsite support and Herts Careline. Residents can maintain their gardens, while the estate management team handles other upkeep.

Residents pay a Weekly Maintenance Contribution and for utilities. Assistance with securing Housing Benefits and Council Tax relief can be provided. Trustees cover certain costs, including water rates, TV licenses for those under 75, and household insurance.
